The old city of Jaffa has a rich, remarkable and storied history. Noted throughout the Bible, Jaffa is one of the sacred book’s most notable cities. It is where Jonah took off in an effort to run from God after being instructed to preach the gospel to the people of Ninevah. The wood used in Solomon’s magnificent temple was from Jaffa. The Apostle Peter traveled to Jaffa as well.

Manta Ray Restaurant: Anyone looking for tasty Jaffa fare should consider visiting the Manta Ray restaurant. It is one of the city’s best and a perfect place for tourists to get a delicious meal.
Old Jaffa Port: The Old Jaffa Port is one of the city’s most noteworthy attractions. The port is the world’s water entry into Israel. People sail into the port and out of in on a daily basis. From the Old Jaffa port, individuals will be able to climb atop Old Jaffa Hill where they can visit the Franciscan Church of St. Peter, which was built during the 1800s. Napoleon reportedly stayed here after he captured the city. Along the port are great restaurants, boutiques which sell items made by hand, artist’s quarters and galleries. This is a wonderful place to purchase archeological finds. The Hatachana Complex is located along the port as well.
Flea Market: The Jaffa flea market is located east of the Clock Square. Visitors can pick up items hand crafted by the locals. The market is located in a historical district. However, many of the buildings have been restored.
Old Jaffa is an amazingly beautiful city with great archaeological and historical significance. With its rich Biblical history, beautiful port and hospitable people, it is a good choice for travelers interested in vacationing in a location that is rich in culture and history but which is still very modern in many respects.
